About Wood & Johnstone Family Tree
Please sign in to see more. Hello & welcome to my Tribal Pages Family Tree.
Well it's been about 8mths now since I began the journey of searching out our family roots. It started with a project my daughter had done for school. In helping her with this I knew I needed to continue & expand this project further. I couldn't believe the wealth of information that is available online & the amount of people researching.
I began our Family Tree starting with our 2 most significant family names being JOHNSTONE (maiden name) & WOOD (married name). My family name JOHNSTONE comes from Scottish Origins with my dates back as early as 1785. Having a head start on this, as I had a Family Tree document made some time ago by another family member, I was able to add another generation of children. I also tried to see if I could find ancestors before the year 1785 to no avail but did find a few missing names from the document I had. What already seems a small portion of information did take a great deal of time. I'd learned to not focus too much on 1 individual & take a break when you come to too many walls as it can become very frustrating at times. My next task was to research my married name WOOD which looked bleak as the only information I had was my husband's parents & grandparents names. This was the most satisfying to me as I found so much information & was able to share it with our family who weren't even sure where they were from. My earliest known WOOD, from Scottish origins also, dates back to 1807 Ireland. What was most intriguing to me was the surname DAVENPORT (Ann Davenport m.1837 John Wood) which to this day is still being pasted down as a christian name of WOOD men. STROUD (English origin) & SWEENEY (Irish origin) are maiden names expanding from WOOD & JOHNSTONE. I would really like to know more about my SWEENEY ancestors, as I haven't been able to find anyone past my greatgrand father. I feel strong connections here & will continue to research some more.
In the past 8 months I've discovered so much information about our family that in time my children & theirs & theirs... can benefit from. I encourage anyone who takes this journey in discovering their own Family roots to do so & to share it. Read as much information as you can & be sure it's accurate so others following your path can do so easily.
Please take some time to look at my Family Tree as there is so much more information within my site. You might have found me by following this same path & may be able to share or even expand my tree, if so you can contact me at diana@wood.vi
I will continue to research & update this site.......the journey has only begun.
